I had the insane pleasure to once again attend another ENK/Playtime kids fashion event. With “Back to School” as the featured theme, fashion for Fall 2014 was in abundance at every booth.During a quick stop at Playtime I met up with Dave Rosenberger of Mini & Maximus where I was given the green light to photograph an item from their Fall collection. Color-blocking returns as do the quirky, made for art lovers graphics & prints. I chose their Youngblood raglan tee which for me is a direct nod to the song by Bad Company (for them? no clue). Dave was extremely personable and his personality echoes the laid back West Coast vibe that MIMA is well known for.
Bobo Choses, who was present & accounted for at Playtime did not allow photos but I can tell you that several of their Fall pieces are shooting an arrow directly at where our tribe will be calling home in June ~ yes, supercalifabulous LA! Dipped out denim shirts & Almost Famous-inspired fur were the standout pieces.Onward to ENK & we came across the coolest (so far) sweatpants by French designer, Sweet-Pants. Super thick, spongy knits in a variety of edgy prints (bandana, snakeskin, leopard & oh my zebra!) along with solids all come in 4 different fits with a yet-to-be-seen on any other pants clear vinyl toggle at the waist. We are definitely biting at the bit to get our hands on several pairs of these & great news for the big kids, Sweet-Pants also has an Adult line.Appaman slammed the door to the classroom and announced that they are king of the castle with their faux leather snake print blazer for boys & additional faux leather snake print moto jacket (with fur) for the girls. Fall for Appaman smells like a return to their original, street cred edge that I personally fell in love with back in 2008 (I spy a familiar bulldog graphic). I am extremely excited to see the heat brought back into their collections for babies, boys & girls and thoroughly enjoyed hanging out at their booth chatting it up with one of Appaman’s own, Lynn Husum (she gives great advice on moving across the country!).Munster Kids along with Bit’z Kids have both brought the vintage air with them in their tiger embroidered bomber jackets. Munster selected a sweet pineapple graphic lining for their version, while Bit’z Kids remained true to their Japan roots in their satin-quilted reversible rendition. Bit’z Kids selection of pants for Fall has us in love with their slim vertical stripes & punched up plaid.Candy-coated leather jackets for girls (or boys) appeared in bright apple red, lemon, classic black & silver platinum compliments of designer, Sierra Julian. Monster Republic, whom we had a nice chat with one of the founders Albert Lee, has taken their cuts to a slimmer more flattering fit for boys. Punked out versions of Mickey & Mr. Potato Head along with standard MR patches & graphics were seen throughout every piece. Plaid pants for boys are now slimmer and sleeveless puffy vests have been redesigned with velvet-soft corduory.Dsquared2 was without a doubt breathtaking & stunning ~ tiny leather gloves with gold zips for the little ladies, camo nylon fronted cardigans, oversized fur trapper hats & leather-trimmed outerwear are for those of us that live without financial limits (win the lottery or become famous and then score Dsquared2). Also appealing at their booth was the much-needed offering of a freshly brewed expresso that quickly had me fired up and ready to visit more designers! (thanks Karen B.!)It’s never a secret that I adore La Miniatura and their Fall collection for boys & girls is once again completely stellar and totally epic. Designer, Jeffrey Sebelia has created what appears to be an explosion of hand painted flowers in deeply saturated colors for the girls blazers & pants while taking the otherwise staunchy tuxedo jacket for boys onto the next level of lightweight outerwear including zipped chest pockets & a super plush faux fur collar. 60’s inspired color blocked cardigans for the boys along with crackle-dyed seperates for the girls are done in true Sebelia-style.Props to tennis pro icons, popstar icons (hello michael) as well as the classic Coco (as in Chanel) adorn several of their hooded tees, striped tees & raglans making it difficult to choose just one. Striped & plaid suits will definitely be their sell out and their instantly recognizable as La Minatura pieces. Now for the clarification of newcomer, Most Wanted – several of their designs emulate those of Brian Lichtenberg. When asked about them we were told that there was no trademark on slang graphics and they do offer their designs in several colors to be printed on various color tees. Ian Gill of Most Wanted was also very kind in giving me an LA graphic tee for Wynn. Last stop was in Times Square where I picked up this custom-painted baller cap for my #1 guy!
Fall fashion always wins when it comes to style ~ Trend forecast based on ENK/Playtime? Leather, Fur, Metallics & an overall toned-down Studio54 vibe! Coming up next we return with more Spring Style Inspiration!

Across the country & across the pond, Littles everywhere are making their way back into the grips of educational institutions, aka “school”. We’ve got what’s hot when it comes to keeping them in style & “street cred” cool thanks to NYC designer, Appaman!
Always ready to rock the halls, Appaman’s Mod Suit has been a popular choice amongst parents everywhere ever since it’s debut. Available in several colors including plaid & the most gorgeous maroon velvet, the Mod Suit is the fastest way to looking fierce without all of the uncomfortable fuss. Sleek fitting yet cut to fit every type of body, Appaman’s Mod Suit is 100% polyester and wait for it…Machine Washable! Easy, effortless & just plain awesome!
For the ladies, Appaman once again has provided several mix & match pieces that will easily pump their closets full of fashionable combinations. From metallic pleated skirts to comfy cozy knits, getting dressed in the morning will be a snap!
Back to the boys, they have their choice of unique & edgy graphic tees, chunky knit sweaters, varsity-inspired cardigans all paired with easy to move in cords, twill & denim. We especially are fond of their Punk Pants!
Recently nominated by Earnshaw’s for Best Kids Outerwear, when the temps drop turn the dial up to any of Appaman’s down-filled jackets. Boys & Girls alike will remain toasty warm & extremely stylish all season long. It is the only outerwear my own son has continued to wear every year for its outstanding quality and overall heat-factor, not to mention the fabulous color & style choices that Appaman offers.
Wynn & his pals, Stefan & Cole took the Appaman Mod Suit for a spin recently. All 3 were in complete agreement that both pieces of the suit were comfortable to wear, easy to move, run AND jump in and gave it an overall A+
From dressed up to downtown chic, the Mod Suit is definitely one staple that should be in every little boy’s wardrobe. In addition, try out various styles with just the pants or just the jacket. Dark skinny jeans, hooded sweat or cardigans with the Appaman jacket thrown on is a spectacular look!

Appaman, based in NYC, has been providing kids with the coolest street cred fashion since 2003. Harald & Lynn Husum have 2 daughters of their own (along with the cutest dog ever, Party Hat) and are extremely keen on what’s hot & what’s not when it comes to what kids want to wear! Their Mod Suit, shot up to fashion fame when spotted on the little king of style, Kingston Rossdale! It has been designed with kids in mind, especially those that aren’t used to getting their fancy on. Silky smooth fabric goes on easily, is non-constricting and is precisely tailored to fit every kid’s body perfectly. In addition to Kingston, Appaman is frequently spotted on mini-celebs everywhere. And when temperatures drop, as they have been across the country, Appaman’s outerwear has been unsurpassed by any other designer. Wynn has worn their clothing since birth & no Chicago suburbs Fall or Winter has passed without him wearing Appaman and me feeling 100% confident that he is not only toasty warm but also street cred cool!
Sons+Daughters hails from Canada and gained it’s inspiration for Kids eyewear from classic Adult style frames. Every pair provides instant rad sophistication for kids everywhere ages 5-12. All of their frames are shatter-resistant and include 100% UVA/UVB protection. The “Bobby” frame that was thoroughly tested & worn by Wynn proved to be so comfortable on him that at times he forgot he was even wearing them (score!) The usual smudges that kids generally place on their shades, quickly disappeared with one swipe of a soft cloth. Extremely durable and constructed to withstand kid-abuse, we give Sons+Daughters 2 major thumbs up!
For the fantastic opportunity of modeling an Appaman Mod Suit & Sons+Daughters sunglasses of our own, we chose to engage the Eagle’s hit, “Hotel California” thru photos shot exclusively at The Lido in Hollywood and at The Beverly Hills Hotel. With style sophistication in place, we set off on a dark desert highway with cool wind in our hair…
